Who Guides the Retreats
Meet your teachers who guides the yoga retreats for mindful living and soulful yoga practices.
Ritu Nanda
Founder and Lead Trainer, Rudrakshaa Yogashala
For Ritu, yoga has never been only about what happens during a class. It is something that becomes part of everyday life, in the way we breathe, move, think, and meet the world around us. This is very much where the idea of Living Yoga comes from.
Ritu is an experienced yoga teacher and yoga therapist, trained in Traditional Hatha Yoga, pranayama, meditation and therapeutic yoga. Her teaching is grounded in tradition, but always practical, approachable and suited to the person in front of her.
She loves sharing the deeper side of yoga without making it complicated or overly serious. Expect good practice, plenty of questions, stories and conversations, moments of quiet, and probably quite a bit of laughter along the way.
Living Yoga is an opportunity to experience yoga with Ritu in the way she believes it was always meant to be understood, not only as a practice, but as part of life.
Swami ARVIND GAUR
Sharing a Life of Yoga
Arvind Gaur, an adventurer and spiritual seeker who has a For Swami Arvind Gaur, yoga is not something that begins and ends with practice. It has been part of the way he has lived, studied, and explored life for decades.
A spiritual seeker, teacher, and adventurer with a deep connection to the Himalayas, Swamiji brings years of study of yogic philosophy, meditation, and traditional practices. His connection with the Adi Shakti Yoga Parampara has shaped much of his understanding and the way he shares yoga with others.
But time with Swamiji will not feel like sitting through a philosophy lecture. There will be conversations, questions, stories, and opportunities to explore ideas that many of us hear in yoga classes but rarely have the time to really understand.
What does it actually mean to live yoga? How do teachings written centuries ago have anything to do with the way we live today? And what can we take from them without needing to leave ordinary life behind?
During Living Yoga, Swamiji will help us explore these questions in a way that is simple, open, and grounded in experience.
Sometimes the best way to understand a tradition is simply to spend time with someone who has lived it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a yoga retreat?
A yoga retreat is an opportunity to step away from everyday routines and dedicate time to yoga, meditation, relaxation and personal well-being. Unlike a regular yoga class, a retreat offers a more immersive experience that may combine traditional Hatha yoga, pranayama, mindfulness, nature and cultural exploration in a peaceful setting.
Are Rudrakshaa Yogashala retreats suitable for beginners?
Yoga retreats can be suitable for beginners as well as experienced practitioners, depending on the programme. Each retreat has its own schedule, practice level and activities, so we recommend reviewing the individual retreat details or contacting us to find the right experience for your needs.
Where do Rudrakshaa Yogashala yoga retreats take place?
Rudrakshaa Yogashala organises yoga retreats at selected destinations in India and other parts of Asia. Past retreat destinations have included Kerala, Darjeeling and Bali. Each destination offers a different experience, from peaceful natural surroundings to opportunities for cultural exploration. Check our upcoming retreats for current destinations and dates.
Do you offer yoga retreats for people travelling from Singapore?
Yes, our retreats are designed to be accessible to practitioners based in Singapore who are looking for immersive yoga and wellness experiences. Depending on the programme, retreats may take place in Singapore or at international destinations. Explore our upcoming retreats to find the latest schedules, locations and travel details.
How long are your yoga retreats?
The duration varies depending on the retreat and destination. Retreats may run for several days, allowing participants to spend more time practising yoga, exploring their surroundings and taking a break from their usual routines. Please refer to each retreat’s page for its exact dates, duration and itinerary.
What is included in a yoga retreat?
Inclusions vary by retreat but may feature daily yoga practice, pranayama, meditation, mindful activities, time in nature and opportunities for cultural exploration. Accommodation, meals, excursions and transfers may also be included, depending on the package. Check the individual retreat page for a complete list of inclusions and exclusions before booking.
Do I need previous yoga experience to join a retreat?
Previous yoga experience is not necessarily required, but suitability depends on the specific retreat and its practice schedule. Some programmes may accommodate beginners, while others may be better suited to those with an established practice. Contact Rudrakshaa Yogashala if you are unsure which retreat is appropriate for your experience level.
What should I bring to a yoga retreat?
We recommend bringing comfortable clothing for yoga and meditation, suitable walking shoes, personal toiletries, any prescribed personal essentials and weather-appropriate clothing for your destination. A reusable water bottle and a personal yoga mat may also be useful. The final packing list will depend on the location, climate, planned activities and facilities provided.
Are meals and accommodation included in the retreat price?

What is the difference between a yoga class and a yoga retreat?
A yoga class usually focuses on a single session of physical practice, breathing techniques or meditation. A yoga retreat offers a more immersive experience over several days, with opportunities to establish a deeper routine, spend time in nature, practise mindfulness and connect with other participants. The exact experience depends on the retreat programme.
What makes a yoga retreat different from a regular holiday?
A yoga retreat combines time away with a focus on well-being and personal practice. Alongside relaxation and exploring a destination, participants can dedicate time to yoga, pranayama, meditation and mindful living. Rather than following a typical sightseeing-focused itinerary, a retreat creates space to slow down and reconnect with yourself.
Can I join a yoga retreat alone?
Joining a retreat alone can be a meaningful way to focus on your practice and experience a new destination at your own pace. Retreats may also provide opportunities to connect with other participants through shared activities and group sessions. Contact us to understand the accommodation arrangements, group size and suitability of a particular retreat for solo travellers.
