Rishikesh, India
24-31 March 2027

For a few days, yoga becomes part of the whole day.

Some days we will practise. Some days we will explore.

Often, we will do both. This is Living Yoga.

Living Yoga

Some of the best lessons in yoga happen when no one is teaching. They happen in the quiet after a morning practice, walking beside the Ganga, in a conversation, trying something new, laughing together, or simply having time to notice what we usually miss.

For eight days, we will practise Traditional Hatha Yoga, pranayama and meditation, but yoga will not end when we roll up our mats. We will take our practice by the Ganga, explore Rishikesh, experience mantra and sound, visit sacred places, head out on adventures, and discover a place where yoga has been lived for generations.

Some days will be full, others slower. There will be time to practise, explore, question, laugh, be quiet, and simply enjoy being there.

Come completely new to yoga or after years of practice. You don’t need to know what yoga is supposed to mean. Come and experience it for yourself.

For a few days, yoga becomes part of the whole day.

This is Living Yoga.

Practise. Explore. Question. Experience. Laugh. Live.

Practise

Traditional yoga, pranayama, meditation, mantra, and sound. Some practices will be familiar. Others may be completely new.

Experience

Some things make more sense when you experience them for yourself. So we will spend less time talking about yoga and more time experiencing it.

Explore

Get outside. Walk. Visit. Meet people. See a different side of India. Let where we are become part of the experience.

Laugh

Because yoga doesn't need to be serious all the time. There will be fun, adventure, shared experiences, and probably a few things that don't go according to plan.

Question

Why do we practise yoga? What are we actually trying to change? What happens when yoga meets ordinary life?

Live

This is where everything comes together. Not just something you did for eight days, but something you may begin to see differently when you go home.

What does it mean to live yoga?

You can practise yoga for years and still wonder what it really means beyond the poses, the breathing and the hour you spend on the mat.

Living Yoga is eight days to experience that for yourself.

We will begin with the practices we know: Traditional Hatha Yoga, pranayama and meditation. But from there, the week opens up. There will be philosophy and conversations with teachers who have lived these traditions, mantra and sound, temples and sacred places, time in nature, adventure, exploration and plenty of laughter.

Some mornings we may practise beside the Ganga. Another day may take us into the mountains. A conversation might begin during a session and continue over chai hours later. Something you hear from Swamiji in the morning may suddenly make sense while you are out exploring. And sometimes, nothing profound needs to happen at all. We can simply enjoy being in Rishikesh together.

That is what makes this week different. We are not filling eight days with yoga classes. We are giving yoga eight days to show up in different ways.

Come if you have practised for years. Come if you are only beginning. Come if you are curious about the philosophy, the traditions, India, or simply what yoga might feel like when you have the time to experience more of it.

You do not need to arrive looking for anything profound.

Just come curious. You may leave understanding yoga very differently.

For a few days, yoga becomes part of the whole day.

This is Living Yoga.

Where Yoga Has Been Lived
for Generations

There is something about arriving in Rishikesh for the first time. You are in the foothills of the Himalayas, surrounded by ashrams, temples, teachers, students and travellers who have come from all over the world for yoga.

For generations, people have travelled here to practise, study, meditate and spend time with teachers. And that history does not feel locked away in the past. You still see it in the early morning practices, the ashrams along the river, sadhus walking through town, evening prayers, chanting, temples and everyday life around you.

But Rishikesh is not solemn or serious. It is colourful, busy, surprising and full of character. There are little streets to wander, chai stops, cafés, markets, bridges, forest trails, waterfalls and adventures waiting outside town. One moment can feel wonderfully peaceful and the next completely alive.

During our week, we will experience both sides. We will practise, explore, experience Ganga Aarti, visit temples and sacred places, spend time outdoors and have enough freedom to discover some of Rishikesh for ourselves.

For someone who has practised yoga for years, there is something special about finally coming to a place you have heard about so many times.

And if yoga is completely new to you, what a place to discover it.

The Setting

For seven nights, we will stay away from the busier side of Rishikesh, where the mountains come closer, the Ganga flows below and the pace of the day naturally begins to slow.

Imagine waking to the sound of the river, stepping outside into the cool morning air and knowing there is nowhere you need to rush to. Begin the day with yoga, have breakfast together, sit with a cup of chai, take a swim, read, talk, or simply enjoy an afternoon with nothing you need to fill.

The Ganga will never feel very far away. You will hear it, see it from different corners of the retreat and find yourself drawn back to it throughout the day. Morning light on the water, a few quiet minutes before breakfast, or simply sitting and watching the river move past. After a while, it becomes part of the rhythm of being here.

Our home for the week has been chosen not only for its beautiful surroundings, but for how it feels to return to. Comfortable rooms, views of the river and mountains, open spaces and enough quiet to enjoy being exactly where you are.

And some of the nicest moments may never appear on the programme. Sitting outside after practice. Watching the light change over the mountains. A conversation that carries on longer than expected. Laughing together after dinner. Or waking a little earlier just to have a few more minutes by the river.

This is not simply where we will stay. It is part of the Living Yoga experience.

Who’ll Be Guiding the Week

RITU NANDA

Founder and Lead Trainer, Rudrakshaa Yogashala

For Ritu, yoga has never been only about what happens during a class. It is something that becomes part of everyday life, in the way we breathe, move, think, and meet the world around us. This is very much where the idea of Living Yoga comes from.

Ritu is an experienced yoga teacher and yoga therapist, trained in Traditional Hatha Yoga, pranayama, meditation and therapeutic yoga. Her teaching is grounded in tradition, but always practical, approachable and suited to the person in front of her.

She loves sharing the deeper side of yoga without making it complicated or overly serious. Expect good practice, plenty of questions, stories and conversations, moments of quiet, and probably quite a bit of laughter along the way.

Living Yoga is an opportunity to experience yoga with Ritu in the way she believes it was always meant to be understood, not only as a practice, but as part of life.

Swami ARVIND GAUR

Sharing a Life of Yoga

Arvind Gaur, an adventurer and spiritual seeker who has a For Swami Arvind Gaur, yoga is not something that begins and ends with practice. It has been part of the way he has lived, studied, and explored life for decades.

A spiritual seeker, teacher, and adventurer with a deep connection to the Himalayas, Swamiji brings years of study of yogic philosophy, meditation, and traditional practices. His connection with the Adi Shakti Yoga Parampara has shaped much of his understanding and the way he shares yoga with others.

But time with Swamiji will not feel like sitting through a philosophy lecture. There will be conversations, questions, stories, and opportunities to explore ideas that many of us hear in yoga classes but rarely have the time to really understand.

What does it actually mean to live yoga? How do teachings written centuries ago have anything to do with the way we live today? And what can we take from them without needing to leave ordinary life behind?

During Living Yoga, Swamiji will help us explore these questions in a way that is simple, open, and grounded in experience.

Sometimes the best way to understand a tradition is simply to spend time with someone who has lived it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I have never practised yoga before. Can I join?

A: Absolutely. Living Yoga is not designed around how flexible you are or how many years you have practised. Beginners and experienced practitioners are equally welcome. Come curious, and we will meet you where you are.

A: Yes. The practices will allow experienced students to work at their own level. And Living Yoga goes beyond the physical practice, giving you the chance to experience yoga through philosophy, pranayama, meditation, mantra, sound, and the traditions and places around Rishikesh.

A: There really isn’t one. Most mornings will begin with yoga, pranayama, and meditation, but the rest of the day will change. We may practise by the Ganga, explore Rishikesh, visit a temple, head to Devprayag, have a Living Yoga session, spend time outdoors, or simply have a quieter afternoon at the retreat.

A: Yes. Once you arrive at Dehradun Airport during the scheduled transfer time, we will take care of your journey to the retreat. We will also guide you before arrival with practical information on visas, packing, clothing, weather, and anything else you need to know.

A: Of course. Many people come to retreats without knowing anyone. With only 14 guests, there will be plenty of time to get to know one another naturally, while still having space for yourself.

A: We will stay for six nights in a peaceful riverside retreat surrounded by the Ganga and mountains. Accommodation is available on a single or twin sharing basis. Solo guests choosing twin sharing can be paired with another guest of the same gender.

A: Fresh vegetarian meals will be served throughout the retreat. If you have dietary requirements or allergies, let us know when booking so we can confirm what can be accommodated.

A: Your six nights stay, retreat programme, yoga and meditation practices, meals, scheduled excursions and activities, and scheduled group transfers from Dehradun Airport are included. The full list of inclusions is shown with the retreat price.

A: Most international guests will fly into Delhi and then take a domestic flight to Dehradun Airport. We will share our recommended Delhi to Dehradun flight and timings in advance, so you can book the same flight or one that matches our group transfer schedule.
