Restorative Yoga
End your weekend with deep nourishment in our Sunday Evening Restorative Yoga class—a gentle, meditative practice that uses fully supported Āsanas, conscious breath (Prāṇāyāma), and deep rest to reset your nervous system. Grounded in traditional yogic wisdom, this class invites you to soften, surrender, and reconnect with your inner stillness. Through long-held, passive postures and guided awareness, you’ll leave feeling regenerated—physically, mentally, and energetically.
Restorative Yoga
In yoga, true balance arises from the interplay of effort (tapas) and rest (viśrāma). The body’s subtle energy flows through channels called nāḍīs, carrying prāṇa—our vital life force—throughout the system. When these channels are clear and the nervous system is calm, energy moves freely, and the body naturally heals. Restorative Yoga is a gentle, intentional practice designed to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, encouraging deep relaxation, healing, and the restoration of balance in both body and mind.
This class offers a slow, mindful journey into stillness, rooted in the principle of Āhimsā—non-harming—and the cultivation of Sattva—clarity and calm. Each posture, such as Supta Baddha Koṇāsana (reclining bound angle), Viparita Karani (legs-up-the-wall), and supported Balāsana (child’s pose), is held for several minutes with the body fully supported by bolsters, blankets, and blocks. This allows connective tissues to release gradually while the breath deepens naturally.
The Practice of Deep Rest and Rebalancing
The practice incorporates foundational yogic tools including Prāṇāyāma (breath regulation), Dhyāna (meditative awareness), and conscious body scans that invite you to draw attention inward. Gentle focus on the exhale encourages surrender and quiets the mind’s constant activity. As tension melts away, space opens within the layers of the koshas—the physical, energetic, mental, and emotional sheaths—allowing for deep rejuvenation.
Restorative Yoga supports those experiencing fatigue, mental overwhelm, or physical tension, and complements more active practices by offering essential recovery. The practice is about presence rather than effort—an opportunity to restore śamatha (tranquility), realign with your inner rhythm, and nourish both śarīra (body) and citta (mind).
Join us in this sacred pause, and emerge feeling grounded, open, and renewed.
