Calm at the Core
Anxiety. Burnout. Overstimulation. Disconnection
A Therapeutic Yoga Session for the Nervous System Part of the 4 Pillars Series
RudraksHAA YOGASHALA

This session is designed to gently bring your nervous system back to balance using yoga-based tools that support deep calm, regulation, and rest.
In today’s fast-paced world, our nervous systems are constantly in overdrive—leaving us feeling anxious, wired, or completely drained. Calm at the Core is a therapeutic yoga experience designed to gently guide you out of “fight or flight” and into a deeply restorative state of rest and regulation.
You’ll learn how to work with your nervous system, not against it—cultivating calm, safety, and resilience from within.

What Is the Nervous System?
The nervous system is your body’s command center — it controls how you think, feel, move, and react. It includes your brain, spinal cord, and a vast network of nerves that send signals throughout your body. When you’re under constant stress, lacking sleep, or feeling anxious, your nervous system can become overstimulated and stuck in “fight or flight” mode. This can lead to burnout, irritability, sleep issues, and even chronic fatigue. A regulated nervous system, on the other hand, helps you feel calm, focused, and resilient. Taking time to support it through breath, movement, and mindful rest is one of the most powerful ways to improve your overall wellbeing.
When the nervous system is disrupted, it often manifests as physical and emotional symptoms. You may feel anxious, restless, or find it hard to relax, even when you’re not under immediate stress. Sleep disturbances like insomnia or frequent waking can also occur, leaving you feeling tired during the day.
Physically, muscle tension, shallow breathing, and an increased heart rate are common signs. You might also experience digestive issues, such as bloating, loss of appetite, or stomach discomfort. These symptoms are signs that your nervous system is struggling to find balance.
Over time, these disturbances can lead to chronic fatigue, mood swings, and even burnout, as your body remains in a constant state of “fight or flight.” It’s essential to address these signs to restore balance and help your body recover.

How Yoga Helps the Nervous System
Yoga is a powerful tool for regulating and restoring balance in the nervous system. Through a combination of movement, breathwork, and mindfulness, yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system—the body’s “rest and digest” mode—which helps counter the effects of chronic stress. Slow, intentional movement and deep breathing signal safety to the brain, calming the “fight or flight” response and reducing stress hormones like cortisol. Over time, this promotes a sense of calm, ease, and internal stability.
One of the key ways yoga supports nervous system health is by stimulating the vagus nerve, a major pathway that governs the body’s relaxation response. Practices such as diaphragmatic breathing, chanting, and certain restorative poses help improve vagal tone, which enhances resilience to stress and supports emotional regulation. By balancing the autonomic nervous system—our internal on-off switch between action and rest—yoga helps the body move more fluidly between states of alertness and relaxation, rather than remaining stuck in overdrive.
For individuals experiencing anxiety, burnout, chronic fatigue, or trauma-related dysregulation, yoga can offer a gentle, embodied path to healing. It builds interoception (awareness of internal sensations), improves sleep, reduces inflammation, and fosters a deeper connection to the self. When practiced regularly, yoga becomes not just a physical discipline, but a nervous system therapy—offering rest, repair, and a return to wholeness.
